Bowdoin went down in its first match of the U.S. Open 4-0. The match featured much falling down and many broken robots. We learned afterwards that we weren’t getting any sensor information except for from the camera. So basically nothing that helped us walk, or detect that we were falling, etc. At the time this was very depressing. Once we learned of the bug it was a big relief. We actually had a couple of great scoring opportunities that ended with a fall and a broken robot. Video to come later.

About
Northern Bites is Bowdoin College’s robot team.
We compete in the Standard Platform League of RoboCup where teams consisting of Nao robots each play on a field of 7.4 m x 5.4 m. The robots operate fully autonomously; there is no external control by humans or computers.
We placed 2nd in the SPL in 2009, 3rd in the Aibo league in 2008, and were World Champions in 2007.
